Power Generation Performance Engineer (iPower Center)

Position Description

We are looking for a Power Generation Performance Engineer to support the iPower Centre under Power System Engineering Department (PSED).

PSED is responsible for providing and managing highly technical and specialized engineering services to support the safe and reliable operation of Saudi Aramco electrical power systems generation, transmission and distribution networks. iPower is monitoring and dianoetic (M&D) canter that will deploy the artificial intelligence tools to monitor the whole value chain of power systems. For Saudi Aramco power plants, the iPower will closely monitor the performance of the plants to enhance the plant reliability and detect anatomize before they aggravate to failure. The iPower canter will be the hub of intelligent solutions to enhance the overall system performance.

You will be responsible for calculating and evaluating the power plant key performance indicators for major components within power plant such as CGT, HRSG, STG, etc. Also, you will provide technical expertise and engineering support in the area of plant performance and efficiency to address any potential gap.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate you should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. A degree or certification in the AI-based tools for pattern recognition application will be highly valued.

You must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a power plant performance engineer with high knowledge in modeling power plant, calculating power plant performance indices and understanding power plants operation and control.

You should be familiar with power plant performance tools used in the M&D canters that calculate the power plant performance based on the digital twin of the machine.

Duties and Responsibilities

You will be expected to perform the following:

Evaluate thermal performance of the company generation plants utilizing thermodynamic, aerodynamic and fluid mechanics engineering principles.

Determine the causes of generation plants performance losses through diagnostic analysis of operational data for both steady-state and transient operation, along with physical inspection results of plant components as required.

Support the iPower canter by providing the expertise in analysing the output of the monitoring and diagnostic tools and proposing the latest M&D technologies.

Develop thermal performance testing procedures to demonstrate compliance with contractual performance guarantees.

Assess the effects of Gas Turbine upgrades on steam cycle components (HRSG, STG, Condenser, Feed water and other systems).
