Community Services Engineering and Design Division is seeking a Mechanical HVAC design engineer. The role creates and develops refrigeration and heating systems for commercial and residential facilities. Researches system ideas, conducts surveys to verify field conditions and gathers information necessary to draw up plans for developing HVAC systems schematics, layout (usually using CAD software) and documenting specifications.
Mechanical HVAC design engineer will be tasked with overseeing personnel assigned to the project, and providing training and mentoring to junior engineering staff. Likewise, to prepare procedural report and provide solutions to technical problems in support of site execution team and maintenance organizations.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum with emphasis on building trade HVAC and piping engineering.
Must have passed a national licensure or equivalent, and possess a current license as a registered engineer.
Ten years of experience from the date of qualification in design and engineering as a mechanical HVAC design engineer, with five 5 years in a senior position.
Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
Knowledgeable in mechanical HVAC design calculation related software.
Shall be well versed in ASHREA, AMCA and SMACNA as well as other related International Engineering and Construction Codes and Standards, such as International Plumbing Code, International Fire Code, and International Mechanical Code.

Must have design experience with HVAC systems that comply with LEED requirements.
Must have design experience with the latest indoor air quality and BMS technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the production of project’s construction documents related to Heating and Ventilation system design for commercial, institutional, residential, and office facilities in accordance with SMACNA, and ASHREA codes and standards. Knowledge of Saudi Aramco Engineering Std. and Design practice is an added value.
Assess projects, identify design requirements, and prepare necessary design calculations using hand calculations and computers to run standard programs (such as Elite Software). Outline design intent, requirements and objectives.
Prepare design packages for mechanical HVAC systems including preparation of documents, design drawings, scopes of work, and technical specifications for Chillers and Direct Expansion Units, duct work systems, with all associated fixtures and fittings, pipe-work systems for Chillers, FCU/AHU, and pumps.
Experience in Fire Protection/Suppression system design is a plus.
Provide expert advice and assistance to design, construction, and maintenance engineers, and operating personnel, on all matters pertaining to the mechanical HVAC system field.
Resolve mechanical engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards. Write technical reports and provide solutions to complex technical problems.
Determine all required design elements necessary for code compliance. Coordinate development of work scopes and detailed technical specifications.
Lay out plans and detailed drawings for development by draftsmen. Identify standard details and develop new details as required.
Coordinates the project development and leads a group of professionals.
Prepare cost estimates and material take-offs for the work as applicable and coordinate with cost engineers on the development of capital project estimates.
Support project on-site execution, project proposals and initiate detailed work outlines. Make decisions to support projects and act as technical consultant when required.
