We are seeking a Building & Construction Composite Materials Expert to join the Oil & Gas Network Integrity (OGNI) Research & Development Division at the Research and Development Center.
The Oil & Gas Network Integrity (OGNI) Research & Development Division is responsible for providing innovative solutions to enhance the reliability and improve the performance of the Company’s operating assets on the one hand, while it also develops nonmetallic-based technologies to promote the global utilization of polymer composite materials in other sectors.
You will be expected to support the development of a new generation of composite materials for Building & Construction (B&C) applications focusing on polymer composite reinforcements (e.g., composites, rebars, and carbon-reinforced concrete) and composites claddings. You should possess strong technical competency in polymer science and composites processing to identify current technical challenges preventing the adoption of composites materials in the B&C sector (e.g., thermal/mechanical performance, fire resistance, material selection, etc.) and propose new research projects to tackle these challenges. You will develop in-house composites testing and material development capabilities and support involvement in global collaborations and consortiums. You should be familiar with international standards used for composites materials in B&C and manufacturing processes (e.g., pultrusion) used for the high-volume production of composites products used in B&C.
As the successful candidate, you should hold a PhD degree in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering, with focus on polymer composites from a recognized and approved program.
You should have at least 15 years of industrial or academic experience including at least 10 years of experience working on composite materials for B&C applications.
You must have a record of publications in recognized international peer-reviewed journals, as well as noticeable experience in business planning and techno-economic evaluations.
Duties and Responsibilities
You will be required to perform the following:
Propose new research programs and develop research strategies to address the technical limitations preventing the massive adoption of polymer composites in building and construction.
Develop in-house competency in materials testing and the qualification of new polymer resins and composites products such as rebars used in the building and construction sector.
Identify new trends for the applications of polymer composites materials in B&C and identify global partners to develop collaborative R&D projects and/or industry consortiums toward enabling such applications.
Participate in the development of international standards related to polymer composites in B&C.
Train and mentor young scientists/engineers/technicians to acquire the technical know-how and expertise to become fully independent in leading technical tasks and projects.
Establish and manage collaborations with other units, departments, and external partners to accelerate the achievement of goals and maximize the impact of the research programs.
You will be expected to remain up to date with the current development in the field to be able to publish technical findings in international peer-reviewed journals and to write patents and perform technology landscaping in support of current and future research activities.
